About Me
My name is Simone Rist. I am a qualified Social Worker and Play Therapist. I provide Child Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy sessions to children from 3 years of age in Byford, Western Australia. I also provide Social Work services and Parent Consultation services to families. I have over 16 years of experience in working therapeutically with children and families. I hold memberships with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and Australian Play Therapists Association (APTA).
I am passionate about supporting children and their families in their healing and growth journey through play. My aim at Nurturing Play Therapy is to provide a safe and nurturing therapeutic space to support children to feel comfortable, be their true self, express all their emotions and play in a way that is completely free. Nurturing Play Therapy is a neurodiverse affirming practice celebrating, accepting and including neurodivergent children and families. Accepting children for exactly who they are, allowing them to be their true self and building on their already existing strengths and abilities. The therapeutic play can help your child to fully flourish and thrive into who they are and develop skills that help them navigate all areas of their life. It sets them up for a connected and positive future.
I have experience in supporting children and families with anxiety, grief and loss, self-regulation, self-esteem and confidence, family separation and conflict, social skills, trauma, medical trauma, attachment, abuse and neglect, behaviour difficulties and gender diversity.
